Fireplace Safety: Why it is important around the Holiday Season
One thing is for certain. Fireplaces and trees compliment each other.
Whether it's Santa coming down the chimney, or a family opening Christmas presents by the fire, there's something about these two elements that go together perfectly.
Perhaps it's the crisp crackle of the fire or the sweet smell of cedar, most people choose to showcase their fireplace and Christmas tree in the same room. Often times this is a living room, which is the center of the home where memories are made.
The first thing to remember when placing your Christmas tree in your home is to make sure your tree remains as hydrated as possible. Due to the heat of the home Christmas trees dry out fast and can become fire hazards if not maintained.
The second thing to watch out for is the proximity of the fireplace and the Christmas tree. You do not want to place your Christmas tree too close to the fire in case of sparks.
The third and final thing to note are stockings. We all love our stockings hanging above the fire, however, be sure to hang these stockings carefully. Stockings are flammable so be sure to bring the fire down quite a bit if you are going to hang them on your mantel.
From everyone at C. Bennett, we wish that you have a happy and safe Christmas!
